Adding WordPress StumbleUpon Functionality

StumbleUpon has become one of the most sought after social bookmarking and sharing websites. Websites on the internet are managed by StumbleUpon, based on the way users rate the pages on these websites. If you are hosting a WordPress blog, this will be a helpful way for visitors to share the content on your site with minimal effort with their friends, either on the StumbleUpon network, or other social networks.
There are several ways to adding StumbleUpon functionality as part of your WordPress Landing Page theme, and it basically results in the popping up of a link to your site on StumbleUpon, every time a visitor clicks on the StumbleUpon icon. The people they share it to can click on the link that they receive and be transported to your site; meanwhile the votes they give will help rate your content in the StumbleUpon rankings.

Instructions
  • Log in to the WordPress dashboard by entering your details in the WordPress login page. If you have problems getting to this page, just type in wp-login.php after the slash symbol that follows the URL of the website.
  • On the left pane, you’ll see many options including Plugins. Hover the cursor on this option and from the menu that appears, select Add New.
  • Enter a name for the StumbleUpon plugin you wish to integrate to the site, or just type in StumbleUpon, and then hit the Search Plugins button; this will bring up a list of available plugins for you to choose from.
  • Find the plugin from the list and select it, for instance, the StumbleUpon WordPress Plugin entry. If you can’t reach a decision, read to find out the features of each, and check the ratings that each has.
  • Underneath the name of the plugin, you’ll find the Install Now button. Click this and then confirm the action by clicking OK. You might be asked to supply additional information like your host name and current password; if so, furnish these. Wait for the installation of the plugin to finish, though it usually doesn’t take more than a few seconds.
  • Once that is done, hit the Activate Plugin button to enable the plugin on the blog. It is now a part of your WordPress landing page theme as well.
